xxxx My name is Claudio Starzak, I was born in Patagonia, Argentina 30 years ago and I have passed the last 14 years developing and making my own distinctive type of jewelry.  During the last 10 years I have worked primarily in silver, gold, precious and semi-precious stones.

At about the same time, I began to travel throughout the Americas, expanding my boundaries each time I set out a bit further until I had covered a good deal of South and Central America. It was the most sacred places of the ancient cultures of this continent that attracted and captured my attention. Through living for different periods of time in these places and absorbing aspects of the cultures that formed them, I learned about spirit and the different ways that it is manifest in life. The gems that each land keeps within their territories were also discoveries that led my journies.

It is in the meeting of these two activities, my travel and my work, where my personal style and my technical and design skills developed.  I do not use the designs and images I observed throughout sacred sites of the Americas directly, yet their lines and intentions are present as I create. The spiral in it's distinct forms is the base of my expression, as it is the most primary way in which energy is put into movement in the universe.

The gems I work with also play a central role to guide my designs, showing me the harmony between shape, light and color.  With the passing of time I have come to specialize in rings as they offer me the opportunity to work with the form of a circle and also directly with hands, which to me what we as humans have in order to be able to create and heal.

Together with my wife Kat and my son Quetzal, Imix Jewelry was formed, dedicated to realizing in our designs an expression of spirit, balanced between beauty and harmony, and offered as an inspiration for those that choose to wear and use one of our creations.
